1968 Oak flooring, needs new coating.

We have 4 rooms and a hall with Oak flooring, NATURAL finish that was installed in 1968. It is in great condition except in needs a coat or two of poly coating.

What cleaner should we use, and any other comments or thoughs you might have are most welcomed.

Will today's water based poly's work on top of the finish that was applied in 1968?

Thanks,

Dale

i think you'll have to do some sanding.

I have the same floor in my house.1968 natural. I covered it with some Wilsonart laminate.
You may be able to just screen the floor and refinish it.
Screening it means just getting a circular buffer and attaching a 120 grit screen pad to it
But Annette has probably hit the nail in head.

If you are in Indy there is a great place you can go get advice.

They are on the southeast side of Indy.
I would tell you to tell them I sent you but I cannot post my business name in forum.
