how to cut out a portion of laminate floor

i have a laminate floor installed in the kitchen and it is continuous with the laminate floor in the laundry room. i probably should have created two separate flors and joined them with a transition strip, but "coulda, woulda, shoulda", didn't. now i want to cut a space between the two areas to install a transition strip. what tool should i use. i could use a dremel tool with a fibre cutting wheel. any other thoughts??

I've installed a lot of laminate and I know they want transitions in all the doorways and so on, but I seldom do it. If the rooms are large and only join in a doorway, I might do it, but not otherwise. I don't like the look of them because they tend to accentuate the "laminate" look which I'd just as soon get away from and, to date, I've never had one come apart.
