laminate transition moulding
My laminate flooring is meeting up with vinyl flooring in my kitchen. The transition piece I was told to use has a step in it with a lip that will overlap the laminate. But the transition piece does not sit down on the vinyl flooring, it's about 1/8 inch too short from sitting down flush on the vinyl.
This is on a concrete slab, the vinyl floor was there and I replaced the carpet with laminate and foam underlayment. If I remove the plastic strip that holds down the transition piece it fits much better- Can I glue down the transition piece directly to the vinyl flooring without the plastic strip?

Yes, you can. I use PL400 for this, but you'll probably get varying opinions. I'm sure some will want you to cut the vinyl out where the transition will go so you can glue it directly to the concrete, but I've done it both ways and the only issue I've experienced was a bit of a height issue with the transition leg not being able to sit down on the concrete without putting too much pressure on the laminate side.
