Smile Paste Waxing, then power polishing?

A family member has loaned me his Holt commerical 20" buffer, which I have used before, while IN THE ARMY, so I do know how to use such.

Would it be correct to apply the paste wax over an area approx 4 ft. square then polishing, and after having done the entire floor I will go back over the entire surface again using the buffer and white pad. The hardwood is in great shape, but needs some shine. It was installed in 1969 and was covered for many years. Very few scratches that go through the varnish.

Would you say this is correct?

Thanks,

Dale

Keep in mind that once you wax the floor finish that you will likely have to go with a wax finish in the future if you ever decide to refinish the floors. Wax tends to contaminate the floor and create adhesion problems with new floor surface finish.
