Hardwood flooring sealed on the bottom?

We are currently looking for new hardwood flooring. Some of the hardwood flooring we have found is finished and sealed on the bottom of each plank (except for the grooves).

We were recently told that hardwood flooring that is finished and sealed on the bottom of each plank is no good and could cause moisture problems (i.e. not allowing the flooring to breath). In the end, this type of flooring could cause problems.

Does anyone have any experience or information on this?

Thanks

Most likely it is manufactured overseas, and they finish both sides to slow a gain of moisture content from the boat ride over here. Likewise, it slows the loss of moisture it does gain, and uneducated installers will install it right off the truck, and then the floor will be gapped later.
