Dents in new pine floor

Dents in new pine floor

Recently installed a new pine floor w/ stain and tung oil. During cabinet installation I picked up a few dings. I've been told that an iron over a wet rag will raise the dents - is this correct and safe. I don't want to ruin the floor. Any other suggestions ?

You can 'sometimes' raise small dents by placing a few drops of water on them, and allowing the wood to swell back to its original shape. Applying mild heat with an iron over a towel helps this process along. Proceed with caution if using heat in order to not damage finish.

Pine is soft and more dents are going to happen - be careful.
