Hi all, I've searched a couple of threads on the subjects of gaps in wood laminate and it looks like the answers are variable. I hired some guys to install the flooring in my house and I am starting to notice a few "very small" gaps in the planks. It is minor, but most of the planks fit nearly perfect with almost no room for dirt or dust to get in. I know these floors move a bit with temperature changes. Actually, my floor was install with the air conditioning off which sort of concerned me. My thinking is that as the house cooled, then the floor would shrink some leaving gaps. Shouldn't the floor be installed at a cooler temperature? Are some gaps normal? Hope I've provided enough information. I don't know much about these floors. Thanks.

We were told by one contractor that we should not put engineered wood over a concrete slab because with temperature changes, we would see shrinking when it was cold. However, we were then told by two different sales people at two different stores that you absolutely can use engineered over concrete. One recommended Bellawood product as it is thicker, but that would entail glueing and we would prefer to float the floor. We like a couple of Bruce's engineered colors too. I feel like we would be sorry if we went with laminate even though we are trying to save money. Any thoughts on these two items? 1)can we put engineered wood on concrete 2)if so, is engineered better/preferable to laminate? Thanks!
