My great idea?
I'm installing 3/4 TG hardwood over OSB. I've had a couple people tell me not to do it, but most have said it's OK. I've noticed that the staples are protruding through the OSB when I don't hit the joists. My great idea is to bend over the ends of the staples (from under the subfloor, in the basement), to prevent them from ever backing out.
Is this a good idea, or am I wasting my time?
Thanks.

How thick is this OSB?
I believe the flooring associations only approves OSB as a subfloor if it's at least 23/32" thick.
Did you install your moisture barrier?
I don't see why you would need to bend the staples over, but I don't believe it would harm the floor.

We install hardwood over T and G OSB all the time. I'm pretty sure that it's all the same size here in Edmonton. 23/32nds almost all the time, though I have seen 5/8. I can tell you from doing rip out of the occasional bad piece that they don't come out easy. I wouldn't bother bending them over. Just make sure that you stick to a few rules of thumb.
-at least two staples per piece.
-staple at 8 to 10 inches on centre
-maintain at least 6 to 8 inches between joints
-glue in your last rows (whatever you can't put in with the staple)
-shim your last row to make sure you have no gaps
