Question Engineered flooring over particle board?

OK.......Want to put a nice 1/2 Engineered 5" plank floor in my family room..........and I know about the no-no of nailing hardwood into particle board............but what about gluing down the 1/2 engineered floor onto clean particle board? Under the particle board is 3/4 plywood flooring and the particle board is screwed/glued to that. Inputs??

I would say you are taking about the same risk as jumping out
of a plane at 10000' w/ out a chute................

Manufacturer's instructions for type of subfloor, vapor retarder, adhesive, and installation must be followed in order not to void warranties. Floating engineered wood can be installed over particleboard. Water based adhesive should not be used if using glue down installation because particleboard will absorb water and swell. Use manufacturer's recommended urethane based adhesive if doing glue down installation. Again, check the manufacturer's recommendations. Each engineered wood manufacturer tends to have its own specific instructions.
