Matching existing hardwood floors

I have hardwood floors in my apartment and recently had a massive remodeling done. I had walls and tiled floors removed and replaced and/or added hardwood where necessary. In areas where walls were removed, you can see where the the new hardwood was added because the putty or grout or whatever it is that was used as filler is very evident and flat looking (no grains). Other areas where larger planks were installed do not have the same problem. I believe it occurred where smaller pieces were needed to fill in to where the new wall was added. How do I modify these areas so that the floor looks continuous, or at least close to it? Thanks...

New floors are clean, old floors are dirty. Give it some time and see if the colors even out over time.
