Laminate flooring

We installed laminate flooring in our living room and we put the flooring on the existing carpet underlay and also used the laminate underlayment. Is that ok? We do feel the floor has a bit of a bounce when we walk on it and at some places, it feels a little bit empty underneath especially near doorways. Will the flooring still last a while? It is too late now but want to know if some people have done it that way before.

Thanks a bunch!

Carpet cushion should have been removed and flooring installed per the manufacturer's recommendations in order not to void warranties. The 'bounce' will stress the floor and cause eventual flooring failure. Laminate installation requires a smooth, flat, hard surface.
