Walnut is a very strong floor along with a Mohagany. It really depends on price, because a good hardwood will cost some money. What is your subfloor currently, because if you have concrete slab, you are limited on any solids.

Here is the Janka ratings. The higher the janka #, the stronger the floor is, and of course, the more expensive.

I love the look of a walnut or dark mohagany, but they are a bear to keep clean, they show all the dust.

Some prefinished flooring manufacturers have very dark stained to black looking finishes in their line up. Dark floors will show dust bunnies more. Too, deep scratches will be more noticeable, showing lighter wood beneath.

While hardness of wood and price are factors in choosing a wood floor, finish is probably a more important consideration. Many manufacturers offer state-of-the art finishes with excellent warranties. Warranties do not cover dings, dents, and scratches.
