Waste factor for laminate floor intall?

I'm about to place an order for a laminate floor. The sales rep website says to add 10% to the order to cover waste. Is that right? I don't want to order more than I need to.

Thanks in advance.

The wider the plank, the more waste is needed. You loose a lot ripping planks.

A 5-7" plank, 10%

a 7-11" plank, 20%

You will want to have extra left over!!! Laminates are discontinued often. The internet is littered with searches for something they will never find. For two planks, they have to replace the entire floor.
