When deciding to buy a laminate floor I want it to look as much like real wood as possible. With a real wood floor how wide should the planks be? I did find a lamintate by Shaw today and it is real nice but the planks are much wider.

Laminate width varies by brand, style, etc.

My Pergo Harvest Chestnut comes with I believe 5-6" planks, but the design on it reflects a 3" plank floor. I have seen some other Pergo come in 3" planks as well. You will have to shop around.
