I am putting together information/budget for a total kitchen redo. Of course one of the main parts of this project is replacement flooring-about 350 sq ft that includes the kitchen, breakfast area, and a 1/2 bath. Currently, I have vinyl flooring probably about 30 yrs old that is hideous. Putting price aside, can the experts advise me on the pros and cons of laminate, hardwood, and cork for replacement flooring? I have two exterior doors into this area,one from a carport and one to the backyard. No children as they have grown up and married. I do have a lab that sheds yearround. Yesterday, I visited a local independent flooring business that I have used off and on over 20 yrs. They are not the cheapest but I have full confidence in them. I have to admit I was overwhelmed with the various choices Thanks for any advice, help, suggestions. :)

Greetings Experts... We have a rented house with polished wood floors in the living room. Because we have 2 young kids, we laid a loose linoeum-type covering to protect a high-traffic portion of the floor. When we took this up recently, that area of the wood floor had become dull, and parts of it had remnants of adhesive from the linoeum underside. Can you recommend a good way to restore the finish without having to completely re-polish the entire floor? Thanks for any suggestions.
