Armstrong armalock (locking mechanism) being discontinued

Just thought I would pass along the following info.

Armstrong American Duet used to be manufactured in Spain and as of April this year that is no longer the case. It is now being produced in Belgium. Because of this, the locking mechanism is being discontinued and now called angle-angle. I'm clueless on if this is better or worse. I don't understand why armstrong would change something that was an award winner. Anyways.......just thought I would let everyone know you can NOT use the old line and the new line together---it will NOT work.

Manufacturers often do this. They find another factory that can produce it cheaper and the old company/factory has the rights to that old locking system, and they gotta come up with new. This is not always the case, but it is common.

Uniclic went postal on about 10 manufacturers this past year claiming they were copying their design. Lawsuit followed and Uniclic won. I couldn't tell you if Armstrong was one of them but the time frame fits.
