Oak floor: lacked or oiled

Hi, I am planning to put an oak floor in my livingroom.
I wonder if you could help me to understand which one is better.
Lacked or oiled oak, considering that we walk on it every day and also the issue about the possibility that a wine glass could drop on it and stuff like that.

Thank you in advanceBeer 4U2

Most folks today go with a surface finish like polyurethane because of durability. There are those who prefer penetrating oil/wax finish. Neither type of finish will protect floors from dings and dents caused by things that get dropped on floors.
