T-Molding for Laminate Flooring

Hi,
I am installing laminate flooring in my bedroom and there's a small passageway for the closets. The opening into this passageway is about 3 feet. Pergo says that for any opening less than 4 feet I need a T-mold (which I'll need to special order, etc.).
I am thinking I should be able to do without the T-mold and simply cut a 3 Feet plank and move into this passageway.
Is that something that should be fine or does anyone know of strong reasons for having a T-mold?

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I have a similar setup and also have Pergo. I don't have a T-moulding going into my walkin closet either, it's continuous.

Thanks for your input! I'll go without the T-molding then.

Cheers!
