Installing 3/4 prefinished on 1/2 sub floor
I will be installing some 3/4 prefinished flooring. The main part of the house was done about 10 years ago. I removed the old carpet and underlayment and they installed the new floor on the 1/2'' subfloor. Most of what i have been reading says 1/2'' is not thick enough and installing on top of the underlayment is also a bad idea. So shuld I add another layer of 1/2 plywood before installing the new floor. Thanks

It is not recommended, as ½" is usually not T&G on the edges, which will flex more. I bet it is more than ½" subfloor.
That being said, if your happy and satisfied with the existing installation, Do what you wish.

I measured it it is 1/2 plywood. I did a search and from what I have read if I add another layer of 1/2 plywood I need to run it in the oposite direction of the existing flooring fasten to the existing subfloor with screws and do not screw into the floor joists. Does this sound right? Thanks
