Subfloor over slab?

Hi,

Im at that "point of no return" on a flooring project, but am unsure - nervous about proceeding. I would appreciate your feedback.

Over dry and level concrete slab, I am trying to install a sub-floor ahead of laying glue-down 1 foot square engineered wood floor tiles. My current plan is to first lay plastic vapor/insulation sheeting with floating tongue and groove sub-floor plywood on top.

Can I cut 4X8 foot sheets into 4X4's and float them over the sheeting? If so, how should I join them at cuts without T&G? Will floating them make the floor (unreasonably) prone to squeaks?

Please also advise if I should be doing something totally different.

Thanks

I don't understand your approach, not sure why you want a floating subfloor under glued down flooring. Why don't you just glue the flooring to the slab?
I could be wrong, but I've never seen it done this way, a finished floor secured(glued) to something that is not secured. If you were going to install a floating floor on top of a floating subfloor that should be alright but there is really no need for the subfloor.
