Install hardwoods around doors???

I am installing 3/4" hardwoods and am not sure about going through the doors. The floor is beng laid perpindicular to the doorway. When I go through the door, I then need to fill back to wall in the next room. How to I do that, since I now hav the groove side exposed for nailing instead of the tongue? Do I just use a regular nail gun and nail through the groove? Thanks.

You use what is called a spline to fill the groove. Some flooring stores sell splines. Most installers simply rip their own and sand them down. Better still, you can use paint stirring sticks. These are free in the paint department at the big box stores and paint stores. Cut stirring strips into 3/8 in wide splines using a jig saw or table saw. You should be able to get 3 out of each stir stick

So I just flip the peice around so that the 2 groove sides are butted together. That makes a lot of sense. Thanks very much!
