Question Uneven Sub Floor

I have 2 different thicknesses of sub floor between my dining room and living room. I need them to be flush so I can have one continuous layer of engineered hardwood running from one room to the next. The step is an 1/8 inch... What do I do? Grind the thick subfloor with a belt sander and fare it in to the thin subfloor? Fare it in with some kind of floor leveling compound?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks...

Add a layer of 1/8" plywood.
