Husbands wants to install hrdwd on basement landing
We have been remodeling our house and are on the final project which is the stairway to the basement. The upper level has 3/4 Brazilian Teak hardwood and the lower level has carpet. We will be installing new treads and staining them to match the hardwood. I think we should install matching carpet on the landing. My husband wants the hardwood. He feels that since the basement is walkout and the landing is above the concrete it would be OK, especially since it is a small area. I don't agree. Since this is below grade I think he is asking for a potential problem. From what I understand all concrete breaths and will/can emit moisture. I know there is no moisture barrier below the landing on the concrete and there are no vents to the enclosed area. Is he correct?
