Cant nail through concrete leveling~!

I have an issue that I imagine/hope someone out there has come across. I am installing my flooring and inside of a closet type area they used a concrete floor leveling material to I assume level the subfloor. Well that's all well and good other than the fact that the flooring nailer wont send the nails through this mess. What should I do? Suggestions welcome.

since its in a 'closet type area' can you use a flooring adhesive in the area? Are you installing engineered flooring or solid?

Is there a door seperating this from the rest of the floor? If so would tile work in this spot and then all you'd need would be a transition piece.

What are you plans for this space, is it just for storage? That may influence other people's ideas.

It's 3/4 in Kempas Hardwood. They built in a small breakfast area under the staircase with a desk type cabinet and a granite countertop. No door is seperating this area from the kitchen.
I wasn't sure the glue would hold.

Thank you for any ideas.
