Question

I am about to refinish hardwood timber flooring in an old house.I am looking for an old fashioned finish that preferably does not involve varnish type finishes.I would appreciate any advice or suggestions as to waxing or polishing methods that are durable and environmentally friendly.

Tami: I am guessing you have sanded to old floor. Now you have to put some sort of sealer or varnish on it. I don't usually recommend certain products, but look at the MINWAX brand. They have a clear sealer that seems to work quite well. Probably use two coats. You can wax this product. Good Luck

Tami, I tell all my customers to never wax their floors. If you wax and then want to recoat your floors later, finish will not adhere due to the wax finish. For cleaning purposes, use 4 cups Windex to a gallon of warm water and a very "lightly" damp mop. Never wet. Good luck.
