Red face

I helped a friend of mine install a laminate floor in his dining room last week. Yesterday, about 1 cup of a citrus based cleaner was spilled on the floor. It wasn't there more than 5 minutes before I cleaned it up. Now, the floor is buckled in the area where the cleaner spilled. Short of cutting out the damaged section and replacing it, is there another solution to this problem?

If excessive moisture penetrates the fiber core of most laminate floors and causes the boards to swell you are probably out of luck. The only fix is to replace the damaged planks. The glue you placed in the tongue and groove is supposed to seal the planks from moisture once the glue is completely dried, but that doesn't always work.

You can find more info about that sort of problem on the http://www.floorsearch.com message board.

Regards,

John
