Scratches on wood floors
#1

We have an oak floor finished with satin polyurathane. I puut a schractch on them and my partner used wet 1500 sandpaper to try to get it out. It now looks awful. THere is a large are on the floor that is dull and shows the marks froom the sandpaper. He tried rubbing compound and murphys' oil soap, but nothing help. Any ideas on how to fix this mess?

Sounds to me like you'll have to re-finish the entire floor. Trying to patch a small area always ends up in differences in shine and colour.
Make sure you remove the Murphy's Oil Soap before you sand. This will only clog up the sand paper.
