Is it a good idea?

Hi,
We have been considering floor options for our new home. Hardwood all over the first floor which has living, dining, family and kitchen & nook, definitely appeals. The exception we have is the kitchen- should we put good vinyl in kitchen (because of possible food spills) and hardwood in the remaining areas? We didn't find any models which have this kind of combination and not sure how it will look. Has anyone seen such combination or have it?
Any comments / suggestions are appreciated.

It is a good idea. This is how it is done.
No guarantee on hardwood in kitchens. Usually the builder will send the customer to a flooring store and you pick out what you like. Looks great.
