Question

We have just bought a small, older house and found that in the bedrooms there are hardwood floors underneath the carpet. But to my disappointment they have painted them black. I was wondering if I should spend the time and effort in refinshing the floors or just replace the carpet. Please help since I only have a short time to do the project.

In my opinion, a hardwood floor is the nicest looking floor anyone can have. Replacing the carpet is by far the easiest and least time consuming. But do you want the look of oak or carpet. To refinish the floors, they would have to be sanded and them a minimun of 2 coats of polyurethane put down. This is not an easy job. It all boils down to what look you want.
