need for movement (i.e. between the flooring and the wall)? I plan to use a Bruce pre-finished SOLID hardwood (not floating, glue-down, etc.). I am installing the flooring in a (carpeted) room next to my foyer, which already has 3/4" Bruce in it. I noticed the base molding is the same height in both rooms. I don't believe the base molding in the carpeted room is 3/4" off the ground, so I was planning to leave the base molding and use a 3/4" quarter round to cover the gap between the flooring and the wall. How much of a gap do I need? Are there any problems with this? I want to avoid cutting the base-molding, if possible. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I want an old wood floor in my den that I can paint,goes over subfloor,can I screw boards down or nail,like on a deck or do they have to be planned,don't want tongue and groove,any suggestions?
