water based poly over oil based poly

can I put 1 coat of oil based for the hue,red oak, and then a coat of waterbased to cover it after the oil based is dry, 1 week..??
this should seal it and cut out the stink too correct..??

I'm not fond of applying water based poly over oil base but if it's only 1 coat of oil [a lot of it is absorbed by the wood] and the oil poly is lightly sanded - it should be ok.

Usually if you want the wood coloring from the use of oil poly but finish with water based, you would use a 'natural' oil stain, let it dry well and then start with the water based or waterborne poly.
