I have been stripping the floors in my kitchen and nook so that I can refinish them, but I noticed that the wood in the nook is 2" wide oak flooring but the kitchen wood appears to be 3 - 3.5" wide and I'm not sure if it's oak or not. Once I sand it all and refinish it will it look ok if the 2 woods are different?

I love hardwood so much that I would not care if the two areas were different. Makes for interesting conversation.

Thumbs up

Most likely the thicker boards are Fir. I have three hard pine wood floors and 2 Fir floors(Bedrooms). They don't look a whole lot different. If you wanted you could always stain them the same color... Good Luck.
