Floating floor install

I have a 1974 split foyer and would like to rip out the carpet in the lower level and install a floating wood floor. I know I need to lay down and install a plastic barrier for moisture protection before I put in the floating wood floor. The lower level has a concrete base and was wondering if it is okay to put a floating floor on a concrete base?

Perfectly fine. You can float a floor over any flat and sound substrate (plywood, concrete, osb, particle board, tile, hardwood, etc., etc. , etc.). Just be diligent in checking the flatness of the slab and filling any low spots or grinding high spots so you eliminate deflection and bounce in the new floating floor. Typically, the floor must be flat to 3/16" per 8'-10' radius.
