Floating Engineered Wood Floor over particle board?

Okay, so, we're getting an engineered floor that's going to be a "floating" floor. So we pull up the carpet in the upstairs bedroom, at which point I realized there is particle board under the carpet (I thought it was plywood, perhaps particle board is over the plywood upstairs). But the installer said that will not be an issue as the floating floor can go over particle board. So, my question, should we remove the particle board and put something else down, or leave it?

wood in the bathroom. probably not the best idea. but if you keep it dry, should be ok.

if the partical board (or whatever) didn't get damaged with a carpet floor. then i don't see it getting damaged with engineered over it.

but, if it were me. i would replace it.
