Can I use 1/4 carpet foam for laminate underlayment?

We're replacing carpet in a family room with Bruce laminate flooring. The subfloor is plywood. Since the laminate does not come with underlayment and needs it, can we use the existing 1/4" carpet foam underlayment for the laminate underlayment? We don't need a vapor barrier, so we would go with separate 2-in-1 laminate underlayment if we need to. If we can use the 1/4 foam this would save considerable time and money. Thanks.

No...it will be too flexible. Use the manufacturers recommendation or an equivalent.

Saving a bit of time and money now will lead to craking and cracking and possible entire replacement of your new flooring.
