Need general flooring advice due to plumbing DISASTER

The sewer tube from the second floor of a condo has cracked just above and INTO the slab.

Plumbers are now jackhammering the concrete right through the middle of the entire kitchen and cabinets.

The owner is elderly, and not really up to cleaning carpet. Gonna put a mental hammerlock on to change to "wood" and ditch the old nasty carpet.

But what are the ins and outs of different kinds? (Including exotics like bamboo etc).

And most of all, how to find a good contractor or store that will really come out and do the WHOLE job well? By WHOLE, I mean including moving ALL the furniture and stuff because this elderly person cannot do it.

Thanks!

Is there insusrance involved?? A company like Servepro or Servicemaster specializes in that type work and does all the moving, mold abatement (which will be a problem) and will leave a space that can be remodeled afterwards.
As far as finding a contractor, you would really need to check locally and get several estimates on the complete job, with recommendations, insurance coverage, etc.
