Tile or Laminate for the following household?

household has 4 young children and a small dog.

Would you install 8 mm laminate in living room, great room, hallways and master or would you install ceramic tile?

They already have tile in the wet areas so the new tile will not match well with existing tile and they can't afford to replace it all.

Home is located in SW Florida

thanks for any ideas

Ceramic tile will wear like steel, but is cold, unfriendly in "friendly" areas like a living room or bedroom. Have you looked into the option of click lock engineered flooring. Substantially thicker product with a great wear warranty, and would warm up the place. Super easy to install, and doesn't have that "click" when you walk on it. Face it dog and kids will last 15 years on it. Worry about changing it out when they are gone, if needed at all. Don't look for something that will outlast their abuse.
