Wood Flooring Installation/Pattern
I'm having engineered hardwood installed in my home tomorrow and am concerned about how it is going to look considering there will be three different plank widths (2 1/4", 3 ", and 5"). I'm wondering what will be the best layout. For example, I think a small-med-large small-medium-large pattern would look kind of odd because your eyes would be drawn one direction or the other. I'm thinking a small-medium-large-medium-small pattern would look better because it would be bi-directional rather than uni-directional. Any thoughts?
Update, I don't think I have a choice in the matter. Supposedly each box of flooring comes with an equal amount of each width, so if I go with my preffered pattern, I will run out of one width or the other.

Had the floors installed Saturday. They look pretty good for the most part, but I just noticed two planks that were not installed correctly. Evidently they used pieces that had already had the finished edge trimmed off, so there are two areas that have planks with nice finished edges (beveled) butted up against planks with rough edges. It's not too noticeable, but it still bugs me that it happened. Would they be able to remove and replace just these two planks, or would it be impossible without tearing out the adjacent planks all the way to the end? FYI, floor is stapled down.

Engineered, 3/8" thick. Don't have pics. Question is can a board in the middle of a floor be removed and replaced and not be noticeable once fixed? Again, floor is stapled down and is tongue and groove (obviously).

They would have to cut the pieces out that you dont want. You can modify new pieces to put in but you would have to glue them in place or face nail them and cover the hole colored wood filler.
