can't find matching wood

My entire house is hardwood, light colored (oak maybe?) and very narrow. Each strip is 1" wide and the rows of nails are visible in every piece throughout the house.

The one exception is our family room, which is carpeted. I need to replace it and I don't want to use carpet. I cannot find hardwoods that are 1" wide. Everything seems to be 2 1/4".

What are the other options for a much used, kid-friendly floor that wouldn't look tacky or mismatched with the rest of my house?

Welcome to the forums! I gotta see this. Can you post pictures so we can see what you see? Using such thin strips doesn't sound very labor friendly. Maybe we can come up with a solution. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html
