Any concerns of 8mm laminate in front of gas fireplace?

We will soon be laying 8mm laminate on our concrete lower level. We are concerned about the heat transfer from our gas fireplace. We've tested the sample 16"x 18" piece up to 100 degrees for two nights with no adverse results. Any long term concerns?

Welcome to the forums. Can't comment on the heat but I always have concerns about laminates in basements due to moisture - do you have any moisture problems?

Do you have a hearth? Is there space in front of the fireplace or does the flooring butt right up against the brick? Heat travels up.
