Kilz original not recommended on flooring?

Hello, i will be replacing carpet with solid hardwood. I bought some Kilz original oil based primer to seal for pet odors but reading the label its says "not recommended for flooring". Am i reading this wrong as in it would be fine for sealing a plywood subfloor? We won't be actually walking on the kilz. Thanks for any clarification you experts might have.

Welcome to the forums!

I'm sure the label means that it isn't suitable as a primer for floor paint. Oil base Kilz will probably seal the odors OK although a pigmented shellac like Zinnser's BIN would definitely seal them.

You're fine - it's just not going to hold up if you walk directly on it.
