#15 Felt-3/4" Hardwood or not..

Hello,

I've done the tedious prep work and am now aiming at actually laying my 3/4" 3" hardwood floor.

I've trolled around the sites for info on felt under-layment between the subfloor and the new hardwood. Some say #15 felt with a 2" overlap. Some say no overlap. Some say don't use felt at all.........

I am looking for a little direction and help understanding.

When I took the 3/4" plywood off of the floor there was #15 felt, overlapped about 2"....It worked since 1955 so common sense is telling me just do the same thing, but that was plywood not 3/4" strips.

Any advice is appreciated.

Trip

Wait on the others to chime in, but I use felt with no overlap. Mainly because that 1/16th inch can cause the flooring to rise slightly at that point, if it is overlapped.
