Unhappy

In refinishish my hardwood floors, I sanded - okay, got through that. Then put on pickled oak stain. What a mess - looks like someone dripped milk all over the floor. Will applying another coat of stain blend in the mess - or do I have to sand it all off and start over.

The instructions say to leave the stain on for 5 to 15 minutes. I got scared when the stain looked so white, I wiped it off after 2-3 mintues.

Any helpful advise is welcome.

Alley:

If I recall seeing some pro's pickling floors you have to open the pores of the material for it to stain evenly. Some species will not take this type of staining well due to the material itself..especially maple.

When I mention opening the pores you'll need a clean damp rag, then rub it into the floor---not excessive water wind you. Give it a chance to dry(5 minutes +-) then apply the stain. Jeff at floorboards.com would probably better assist you. Good Luck
