Painting hardwood floors
I have a huge water spot on our hardwood floor (pet fountain malfunction )
replacing the flooring is to expensive and not an option.
I am considering painting that area ( L-shaped hallway about 12 feet long and about 8 feet wide at the "L" part)
What I would LIKE to do is prepare the floor, prime it, glaze it with a wood grain pattern so it looks like a new hardwood floor WITHOUT the ugly water spot.
I am not sure what kind of primer, glaze, polyurethane etc to use. This is a hight traffic area to long drying times would be out of the question.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!!!!

Not the flooring expert, but why not just sand it and put a couple coats of water based polyurethane down?

After sanding you may be able to bleach the stain out with some oxalic acid, then sand again and refinish. If you apply the finish last thing in the day, most of the drying will be done by morning. Maybe not strong enough for boot traffic but should do fine with stocking feet.
