Transition - 12mm to 7mm - Laminate cliff

Folks

Planning to do laminate throughout the house. Two areas are giving me headache.

First, what i'm installing - 12 mm laminate

1) Family room has carpet to Tile (Tile is part of huge kitchen so taking it out is not an option). This is flush right now. Plan is to remove carpet and install laminate. if i install 7mm laminate, then it is flush to tile height. But i have 12mm laminate. I checked local box stores and there is no transition from 12mm to 7mm. How do i tackle this?

2) My Family room has French doors with side windows. I'm having same issue there as the french door base [Aluminum] is flush to carpet so installing 12mm will create a big height difference. This is the same issue with living room as well which has main entrance door.

Please point me to transitions which can help avoid this 'laminate cliff' :-).

Chandler will likely chime in shortly but I would bet his answer is going to be to make your own transitions.
