Recommendations for unfinished walnut

We are putting down new unfinished walnut. We are looking for recommendations of stain color or were wondering if natural w polyurathane was the way to go. I know a lot is personal preference but there's so many choices we'd like some direction. We both like the dark tones of walnut but was wondering how it would age/look over time with different finishes. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!

No stain needed! If you use an oil base poly the wood will darken up quite nicely. A waterbased poly will leave the wood color closer to what it is without a finish. I'd suggest taking a few scraps of flooring and applying oil base poly to half and waterbased to half - that will give you an idea of the color the floor will be once finished.

I'm with Mark, I would not stain this. Personally, I prefer oil based poly but that choice is up to you.
