Need advice on selection of flooring for concrete slab floor in basement

Our home has a concrete slab floor in the basement that currently has some time of (commercial?) no pile carpet glued to it. We would like to have some type of engineered wood floor put down instead. Is there a type of flooring that can be insulated and also hold up to heavy traffic without scratching?
I would also need to do it with a thrifty buget. Have you any suggestions on what to use? Thanks!

About a couple of years ago, I installed 3 1/2" wide hand scraped engineered click lock flooring over the red beaded underlayment (HD) and the client has had nothing but praises for the product. It isn't cold and is holding up well to foot traffic. I would check into 1/2 - 5/8" thick click lock flooring. They got it from LL, but I am sure box stores carry a good supply of what you may be looking for.
