Matching Existing Laminate Flooring
Hello,
I live in a 2-bedroom condo. The entire unit has laminate flooring except for the 2nd bedroom which has carpet. We are looking to replace the carpet with either engineered wood or laminate. Interested in everyone's opinion on two items:
1. Should we try to match the color/finish of the existing laminate? This was our original intent, but we are struggling to find a good match. Therefore thinking that a contrasting color might be a better option. We are unable to determine the manufacturer of the original laminate, so we just been trying various samples.
2. Engineered wood vs. laminate. I would prefer to go with engineered would since it looks nicer and can be refinished. However, I am concerned that putting real wood next to a laminate will highlight the fact that the existing laminate is...well laminate.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.
Concern # 2 is valid, not much I can add to that....
# 1: IMO, I would make them different enough that it's clear you intended to be different, trying to match and only being able to get close would look worse to me.
