Subfloor for 1/2 engineered hardwood

Subfloor for 1/2 engineered hardwood

Home has 2x8 tongue and groove subfloor. Carpet was on top of particle board on top of 15lb felt on top of 2x8. All has been removed down to tongue and groove. My question is should 15lb felt go on top of tongue and groove then 5/8th cdx plywood then padding then hardwood? Or tongue and groove then plywood then 15lb felt then hardwood? We will be nailing the floor down. Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the forums! Door #2. You don't want to trap moisture between your flooring and subflooring, but stop the moisture from below, so apply all your subflooring, then the felt, then the flooring. You won't be needing any padding with naildown, unless the manufacturer specifies it, then you can omit the felt.
