how can I remove carpet glue from hardwood flooring

I scrape a bunch of it off by hand in my hallway, but that took a long time and there is still a lot left. I am going to be removing some carpet in a bedroom that was glued down as well and I'm looking for some suggestions to get the stuff to come up easy with out damaging the hardwood.

The wood needs to be refinished. The glue will sand right off.

Acetone is pretty harsh to use and requires good ventilation. My first thought was mineral spirits and elbow grease but I like Sam's idea.

IMO sanding is less work and the end result will be a LOT nicer!
