New Kitchen Floor

We are considering replacing the vinyl on our kitchen/laundry room floor - it has been down for 21 years.

We have two non-declawed cats and are considering getting a Golden Retriever.

We are retired so price is a factor - the area is around 400 sq. ft.

Bearing in mind the cost and the pets what would you suggest?

Thank you very much.

Ok so what the question?
As long as you do not cheap out on the vinyl it should last at least 20 years.
Plan on removing the old, or going over what's there now?

The question is would laminated stand up to the pets - I know tile would but the cost would be really high I assume

Confusing, there was no mention of laminite in your first post.
It will be far as far as the claws, but any water spills from any source and it's trash and can not be repaired.
I see this all the time. Right in front of the sink where you get day to day small splasing, under the dogs water bowl, backed up drain in the laundry room, ECT. and the floor is shot.

Sorry for making confusing posts = they say this comes with age - but I don't believe them.
Sorry again.

Stick with vinyl, the only "good" laminate is the stuff that remains in the store. It will not survive a dog or water as suggested. I am at this moment removing laminate flooring and would never use it again!

Hands down, ceramic tile. The cost is not that much and it will be there with your long after your vinyl and/or laminate are toast. Impervious to spills and pets.
